Many times when a freelance subcontract designer is employed, they are unavailable next time a project comes along. The time spent finding a design engineer and coaxing them up the learning-curve is then wasted. Chelker’s design-team approach solves that problem.

Chelker are design specialists, with experience ranging from materials handling, packaging, robotics and machine tools, to consumer products, test equipment, defence and medical equipment. We don’t specialise in any one industry, amongst our team we have such a wealth of experience that we can handle most things that are thrown at us. If it is outside our direct capability we have specialist partners who can help, for example with electronics design, machine controls, structural engineering and advanced finite element analysis (FEA).

Our manufacturing partners enable us to offer prototype and production manufacturing, ranging from 3D printing to machining, fabrication and sheet metal work, extrusion, plastic fabrication & injection moulding. Our flexibility is in being able to match the right processes to the product, the volume of manufacture, and the quality assurance needs.

We have helped many companies with automation projects and are able to manage projects from initial requirement through design, manufacture, assembly, installation, test and commissioning. Whatever your need for automation, whether it be for improved productivity, OEE, quality control or health and safety, we can usually offer the most cost-effective solution. This may use off-the-shelf equipment (perhaps with some modification), or a dedicated special purpose machine that we design from scratch.
